We design each La Vie en Périgord program to take advantage of the season's produce and special events. The following is a typical program; your program may vary.

DAY ONE   Afternoon arrival and settle in. Over welcome apéritif and hors d'ouvres, we'll discuss the upcoming week's activities. Dinner at home will introduce you to some southwest French specialties.

DAY TWO   In the morning, a trip to the farmers' market in nearby St. Cyprien, where we'll buy fresh produce for an al fresco lunch back home. In the afternoon we'll discover some of Europe's finest prehistoric cave paintings at nearby Font de Gaume. Le Vieux Moulin, a beautifully converted water mill in Les Eyzies, is the setting for our Welcome Dinner.

DAY THREE   Today we go to historic Périgueux, the capital of the Dordogne, where there's wonderful shopping in the old cobbled streets. Lunch at a renowned local bistro followed by a visit to a Limoges porcelain factory store. Time for a walk or a bike ride before dinner at LA COMBE.

DAY FOUR   In the morning, a private tour and wine tasting with the owners of Château Belingard, followed by lunch at the Château les Merles country club. In the afternoon, we enjoy a demonstration by a 'maître-chocolatier'' and drop in on one of the best wine stores in France. Dinner at LA COMBE.

DAY FIVE   An early start as today we're heading up the Dordogne valley for a tasting at the liquor distillery at Souillac, followed by antique hunting and lunch in the medieval town of Martel. Afterwards, on to spectacular Rocamadour, a holy city built into the cliffside, and a major destination for pilgrims from all over Europe. Back to LA COMBE for a light supper.

DAY SIX   It's market day in Sarlat, one of France's best preserved Renaissance cities. After shopping its narrow lanes, packed with merchants, we have lunch at Chez Le Gaulois, and then visit the perfectly-groomed 18th century Gardens at Eyrignac. Back via an ancient walnut oil pressing mill and an antique and wine store located in a fairytale 14th century castle for dinner at LA COMBE.

DAY SEVEN   In the morning we'll visit some of the hilltop towns, castles and villages alongside the Dordogne river. After a gala Farewell Luncheon at the Michelin-starred Vieux Logis in picturesque Trèmolat, the late afternoon is free for last minute shopping or packing, before apéritif and a light dinner at LA COMBE.

DAY EIGHT   Relax over breakfast, then au revoirs to new-found friends before leaving Périgord on your journey homeward.
